About CakeNeq Games
Originally started in 2014 by Kelsie Sara and Wyatt White. CakeNeq Games comes from the Yukon Kuskokwim delta, and our name is formed from the Yup'ik word "cakneq", which means to do something "a lot", "very hard", or "very much" in a sentence you'd say something like "Quyana cakneq" which would mean "Thanks a lot" or "thank you very much."
We think serves as a perfect way to describe how we work. We work to represent Western Alaska, we work hard, and we try to make a lot of game.
CakeNeq Games is a proud member of the Alaska Developer Alliance, a nonprofit organization founded and focused on fostering and promoting the software development community in Alaska.

While I was born in northwestern Washington I grew up in Bethel, Alaska. I was interested in games and movies from a young age, and made my first game (a terrible Pac-man knockoff) at 11. Growing up I loved hunting, boating, playing video games, and writing short stories. I started taking development more seriously at 16 when I made and published my first game Kinigits. In the decade plus since I started making games, I've released 12 games, several prototypes and minigames. I've been slowly building up skills and workflows over the years, and have been able to deliver better and better games with each release. When I'm not working on the latest CakeNeq Game, I'm writing lots of terrible posts about the Resident Evil film series or my love of the 1977 classic animated film Wizards or Dark Void or Gears of War or DooM or - the list goes on. |

I was born and raised in Bethel Alaska for the first 19 years of my life until I moved out to Anchorage Alaska back in 2015. Growing up I was immersed in the seemingly typical village life at the time, which would be going out on bikes and going to the skate park or other parks, swimming in the river, or of course sustenance fishing and hunting. In the time of more games and computer technology coming out and evolving so playing games was a consistent part of growing up as well. Once in highschool my best friend, Wyatt, was playing around with making little games and I thought it would be fun to add art to the projects and since then I’ve helped in animation, logos, character design and other various artistic endeavors. I enjoy playing video games, watching television shows or movies, playing and making music for myself, and spending time with my wife, cat, and daughter. |
